Red Gate's newest release - SQL Prompt 3.5 beta
Red Gate are pleased to be able to announce the availability of the SQL Prompt 3.5 release candidate. You can download trial version here and make a note of following information:
You can install SQL Prompt 3 alongside your copy of SQL Prompt 2 or PromptSQL 1.4 . If you later choose not to upgrade to SQL Prompt 3, your previous version will remain unaffected. Please note, however, that while the two versions are installed alongside each other, you can only run one version at a time. So, in order to use SQL Prompt 3, you must temporarily turn off the earlier version.
If you previously installed a beta version of SQL Prompt 3, that must be uninstalled prior to installation of the full release version. In this case, we advise you to back up all configuration files found in %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Red Gate\SQL Prompt 3, before installing the full release version.
So what's new, in this major new release of SQL Prompt with many new features and improvements including:
• Visual Studio 2005 database project support
• Cross database queries
• Distributed queries across linked SQL Server instances
• Correlated subqueries
• 3 – 5 times faster metadata retrieval
• Large script support
• 40 – 95% decrease in memory footprint
There are also few bug fixes and other enhancements, and importantly have eradicated the editor hangs and as always do get in touch with your comments and suggestions at forums here.
