Using feature of Creating Reports within SQL Server express 2008
SQL Server Express team in Microsoft are asking users to register their opinion in developing a new report designer tool to include in SQL Server Express 2008!
I should clarify that this feature will be included in SQL Express 2008 with Advances Services, by default. This will use the feature such as new report designer has a different user experience that is more geared toward information workers than developers. To see what more is included in this you need to download the November CTP for SQL Server Developer 2008 edition. Once you have downloaded and installed the SQL2008 CTP then go to Start | All Programs | Microsoft SQL Server 2008 | Reporting Services | Report Designer Preview.
To make it more user friendly the Development team are acquiring the feedback from the users, also having such feature within BIDS is restricting majority users to use the feature within SQL Express edition. I think the look and feel of the new Report Designer will be easier to use for most SQL Express users while still offering all the major report design functionality that folks need. Bear in mind not all the features within BIDS are available within proposed SQL Express edition such as creating managed assemblies to use in your reports.
