Interesting news about Project Madison and Kilmanjaro (ahem, SQL 2008 R2)

Here is the exciting news (for me) to know about Project Madison for the group of Customers (probably that are in TAP) to deploy a proto-type:

  • A Madison MPP data warehouse appliance partitions large tables across multiple physical nodes, each node having dedicated CPU, memory and storage, and each running its own instance of SQL Server, in a patented parallel design known as Ultra Shared Nothing™

  • All components are balanced against each other to reduce performance bottlenecks, and all server and storage components are mirrored for enterprise-class redundancy

This will be a first-technology preview for those 'selected' customers and to know more about it: data sheet and highly-recommended view the on demand webinar, "An Early Look at Kilimanjaro and Madison”.
