First things first, from the followup of SQL_Server_2008_SP2 post here is the good news to the community that SQL Server Release Services announcement about SQL 2008 SP2 release...Microsoft targets release in Q3/CY2010.

Next on the Cumulative Update package releases, here are the most recent cumulative update package for SQL Server 2008 SP1. This package contains all of the SQL Server 2008 hotfixes that have been released since the initial release of SQL Server 2008 SP1.

A note about Cumulative Update 9 for SQL Server 2008 contains hotfixes for the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 issues that have been fixed since the release of SQL Server 2008. Refer to this KBA http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977444/en-us for further information on list of bugs that are fixed and ways to obtain  the hotfix if your environment has been affected as per the symptoms. I also urge the users to refer and understand the Incremental Servicing Model for SQL Server along with  SQL Server Support Information: http://support.microsoft.com/sql2005 version.
