SQL Server Storage Engine & Tools (SSQA.net)

SQL Server Tools includes storage engine that includes a complete set of graphical tools and command prompt utilities that allow users, programmers, and administrators. SSMS, SSRS, SSIS & SSAS are most commonly used tools.
Lack of Documentation - why this is missed!

Microsoft has invested fair amount of time in providing 'sensible' documentation or references since last few years as compared to the initial windows days.

Recently with the Trustoworthy Computing intiative has made the product documentation a lot better, but this is not applicable on the SQL Server 2005 x64 bit edition! You have to search a lot on the web or refer to the books for a smaller information or issues that are occurred.

I'm quite surprised why this is missed when it is pumped over the Businesses like a primer, having the x64 with Business Intelligence is a definitive for the Enterprise IT growth. I have only see the way is to report them on MS Connect website, well it is like wait until your number is called.

Then coming to the other parts of BOL Microsoft has released various sections of Books Online for each of SQL Server 2005 edition, such as SQL Server 2005 books Online [http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms130214(SQL.90).aspx], SQL Server 2005 Express books online [http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms165706(SQL.90).aspx] & SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition Books Online [http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms173053(SQL.90).aspx].

I am happy to see the content strength on the latest Books OnLine aka BOL in SQL Server 2005. I feel this online help will give more flexibiliy to understand about the product in depth. Further when I was browsing through the options of BOL I came across 'tutorials' section that has been categorised as use of SQL Server tools and utilities, Analysis services, data mining, Notification services and Reporting services.

This new feature in BOL for SQL Server 2005 includes tutorials to help you understand SQL Server technology and get started with your projects. I have recently wrote an article about how effectively you can use the Books Online for your need. Before that I would like to shortcut the snippet of Tutorial feature in SQL Server http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms169620(SQL.90).aspx from this link.

Have a look and no doubt you will be amused to see the newest features and latest add-on to SQL Server 2005 release by Microsoft.
